Wind Energy Consultation

FIFE COUNCIL is looking for feedback on its updated Wind Energy Supplementary Planning Guidance which was published earlier this month.

One of the Council’s BIG 8 priorities is to become the “leading green Council in Scotland ” and to help to achieve this the Wind Energy Supplementary Planning Guidance supports the development of renewable technologies in the right locations.

Since the original Wind Energy document was produced in 2008, the Council has undertaken improvements, making it clearer and easier to understand while still providing all the necessary information. The draft updates include a number of changes to the guidance and new information about single turbine proposals, offshore developments, feed-in tariffs, and community and economic wind turbine developments. It also looks at the cumulative impact and the proximity of turbines to transport infrastructure.

The online consultation is available at www.fifedirect.org.uk/windenergy until 14 January 2011. By providing comments and feedback on the guidance you can help improve the information it contains and shape the final version of Fife ’s Wind Energy Guidance.

Hard copies of the document can be viewed at Council Planning Offices in Cupar, Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline and Glenrothes, and at libraries in St Andrews, Leven, Anstruther, Newburgh , Lochgelly, Inverkeithing and Kincardine.

For more information, or to request a copy of the guidance, contact: Michael Westwater, on michael.westwater@fife.gov.uk or call 08451 555555 ext 442397.
