Looking Back On 2022

It was such a thrill to get back to live music last April, kicking off with a sold-out extravaganza from the bombastic Tom Maguire and the Brassholes. To put things in perspective, the Brassholes’ next show on 27th Jan will be at The Barrowlands!

In June we managed to have our postponed collaboration with Letham Lights with a showing of James Kelman’s Dirt Road to Lafayette in the afternoon, a Q&A with protagonist of the film, Neil Sutcliffe and then a wonderful Cajun/Zydeco gig in the evening with a band specially put together by Neil.

In August, we had our first of two Scotland on Tour shows with Jemima Thewes.  Jemima and drummer Tim Lane were amazing, innovative performers and they put on a belter of a show.

September brought in extraordinary Ghanaian drummers Kakatsitsi. They came to the village and took it by storm, leading drumming, dancing and singing workshops during the day and then a fantastic gig in the evening.

It is quite a boost when you get to host one of the best bands in the country, Breabach, who played in October.  We knew this would be a sell out and it was – weeks in advance.  They were just brilliant.

Finally, the last show of the year was also our 2nd Scotland on Tour gig with Adam Holmes.  Adam presented a mix of old and new songs to create a lovely, warm atmosphere on a cold winter’s night.  An extra bonus was having the amazing Esther Swift open the evening as our first harpist.
